Do you think an accessible bathroom has an institutionalized look? Think again.
Many of our clients want to make their existing bathroom safer as they get older. Sometimes we will simply remove a tub and install a shower, an ADA-compliant toilet, and grab bars.
For a bathroom remodeling project in Wenham, however, we built an entirely accessible bathroom. We designed the shower without a threshold so that a wheelchair could easily roll in and out. The grab bars all have sturdy backing behind the plaster and tile to ensure they can be used safely.
In place of a vanity, we installed a Corian coutner designed to the homeowner’s wishes. It is fastened securely to the wall at the perfect height for his wheelchair. We included a hand-held shower head which attaches to another grab bar. Even the medicine cabinet is at the appropriate height for a person who is sitting..
